The University of Chicago Medicine is home to one of the country's leading, full-service programs for patients with pulmonary hypertension (PH). Patients with PH have high blood pressure in the arteries in the lungs. This forces the right sided heart to work harder in order to pump blood through the lungs. Over time, the right heart can weaken or fail completely.
Treatment for this uncommon, but serious, condition is available at only a few centers in the nation. Our Pulmonary Hypertension Program’s doctors provide the most comprehensive care available, based on more than 25 years of experience with PH. Our PH doctors have pioneered advances in the medical treatment of PH and see more than 1,000 patients each year, making our program one of the country’s largest centers of excellence for the treatment of Pulmonary Hypertension.
